Hanshi Shaswat Kumar was born in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India. He developed a strong attraction to martial arts from a very young age and began his training early, initially learning Shito Ryu karate. Due to his father's government job, the family moved from Odisha to Andhra Pradesh. Hanshi Shaswat Kumar excelled in karate kumite and participated in many championships during his childhood, continuing this passion in Andhra Pradesh. When Andhra Pradesh was divided to form Telangana, Hanshi Shaswat Kumar represented Telangana and India in various karate organizations, winning numerous medals. During his youth, he became a five-time National Champion and also triumphed in international karate championships, having the opportunity to compete in Recognized National Karate Championships. In 2014, due to some disagreements with his master, Hanshi Shaswat Kumar decided to leave the organization and work independently. In 2015, he founded the Shotokan Karate Do International organization, where he continued to practice Shotokan karate and also learned Kyokushin karate. That same year, he was appointed as the Country Representative for Kyokushin Karate International Association USA in India. He successfully managed both Shotokan and Kyokushin karate organizations in India. During this period, Hanshi Shaswat Kumar also worked on his YouTube channel, providing free basic karate knowledge to everyone. In 2016, he became the president of Combat Martial Arts and took self-defense to new heights by teaching techniques in various schools, colleges, academies, and offices, including a special camp for girls at Google office. Hanshi Shaswat Kumar's name began to gain recognition worldwide, and he started being acknowledged by masters from other countries. He pursued further training in Japan and received the International Hall of Fame award from various countries for eight consecutive years, recognizing his dedication and hard work in martial arts. In 2024, Hanshi Shaswat Kumar decided to merge Shotokan and Kyokushin styles into a single organization, creating Senkoukai Karate. This new independent karate style was recognized by Grand Master Masaki Watanabe (10th Dan Black Belt) from Shotokan karate and Grand Master Ryogo Ito from Kyokushin karate. Hanshi Shaswat Kumar, the founder of the World Senkoukai Karate Organization (WSKO), was honored with the 10th Dan Black Belt by Soke Yoshimoto Tanaka, president of the All Japan Martial Arts Organization, and Shihan Kauro Kamiya, vice president. This prestigious rank made him the first Indian to be awarded the 10th Dan Black Belt by the Japan Martial Arts Organization. Hanshi Shaswat Kumar is dedicated to promoting Senkoukai Karate with all his efforts. The organization now has branches in several countries, and he aims to make Senkoukai Karate recognized worldwide. He is committed to advancing an Indian martial arts master and an Indian karate style on the global stage, believing that until the world knows about Senkoukai Karate, he will continue to work tirelessly to promote the organization.
100-MAN KUMITE INDIA
Hanshi Shaswat Kumar, the founder of Senkoukai Karate, was honored with the 10th Dan black belt by Soke Yoshimoto Tanaka, the President of the All Japan Martial Arts Organization Headquarters in Japan. He has enhanced Senkoukai Karate by integrating superior techniques, power, and speed, making it the best and most dangerous karate style in the world. Hanshi Shaswat Kumar is the only Karate master in India to receive the prestigious 10th Dan black belt from Japan. He is also the first Karate master in India to accept the challenge of the full-contact 100-man kumite. On February 9, 2025, he successfully completed the 100-man kumite, demonstrating extraordinary skill and endurance. During this remarkable event, he fought against 108 full-contact karate fighters under the supervision of Grand Master Ryogo Ito from Japan. The entire 100-man kumite was live-streamed, allowing audiences worldwide to witness his exceptional fighting spirit and abilities. With this historic achievement, Hanshi Shaswat Kumar became the first Indian Karate fighter to complete the 100-man kumite. As the founder of Senkoukai Karate, he showcased his unparalleled talent and determination, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest Karate masters in history.
